Restricted Party Screening
International Scholars Operations (ISO) has announced that beginning November 2, 2026, units sponsoring visas will need to perform restricted party screening before submitting visa requests to ISO. This is due to federal restrictions that limit or prohibit activity with individuals or entities on federal restricted party lists. Please see UW Research Security program’s full announcement for further details.
AST’s Foreign National Services team will perform these screenings as part of our visa processing workflow for all J-1, J-1 VISIT, and H-1B visas, so there is no need for unit staff or faculty to perform them prior to submitting visa requests. Our team will follow up with the ticket submitter for any additional details required to perform the screening.
