This template is meant to be used when requesting a new Gift Fund within the College of Arts & Sciences. Copy these questions and answer them in a email to casadser@uw.edu. Emailing CAS Advancement is the best way to ensure information is completed accurately. Please DO NOT submit your own request on the UW Connect Finance New/Modify Gift Request form.
Instructions
- Please consider the following questions and answer what you can. We will use this as a starting point as we coordinate with you on what the final request will look like.
- What is the purpose/intent of this fund?
- How will you use this fund, and what are some types of expenses you might expect (e.g. stipends, travel, food/alcohol)?
- How much initial money do you expect to bring in as gifts or internal transfers?
- Do you plan to fundraise moving forward to keep this fund active in the future? Have you already discussed this plan with your unit’s fundraiser?
- Does the gift purpose align with GAP principles (Yes/No)?
- Gifts are not directed toward particular individuals or research results.
- Donor(s) will not have any control over how this will be awarded or spent, and gifts will support the stated purpose of the gift fund. Gifts should not be earmarked for more-specific purposes.
- The gift purpose is flexible enough to meet your units’ needs in the long-term (i.e. there is fallback language in the event the original purpose becomes impractical).
- Do you have any requested associated worktags (e.g. cost center, resource)?
- Any other notes or comments?
- Email your answers to these questions to casadser@uw.edu. CAS Advancement Services will confirm details with you, get Dean’s Office approval, and put in the request to Gift Services on your behalf.
